As I was planning my trip to Alberobello, my intent was to stay in a trullo. How cool would that be, right? And, it was! I selected Pietradimora Bed and Breakfast for my first trullo experience and it was everything I hoped it would be, and more.
Pietradimora is actually a group of trulli (plural for trullo). Each bedroom is in its own trullo. The rates were so reasonable, we reserved the suite which gave us a seating area in addition to the separate bedroom. The bathroom was large for Italian standards, and very nicely decorated as you can see from the pictures.
There were two patios and a rooftop deck for an incredible view of the trulli town. Inside, there was a large living room, dining room, and a very charming kitchen. The place was just so darn cute, warm and inviting! Extra pluses included free Wi-Fi and a bountiful breakfast every morning with coffee drinks made to order.
What makes Pietradimora even more special is the gracious and friendly service you receive. No matter what time your arrival is, the friendly host helps you get settled in. Then, she is there again in the morning setting out breakfast and ready to answer any questions you might have about where to go and what to see. During our stay, we couldn't find extra pillows in our room, so we improvised with rolled up blankets. The next night we returned to our room to find extra pillows waiting for us--we didn't even have to ask! That's attentive service!
If you come to Alberobello for the trulli (what else?), then Pietradimora is the place to stay. It is located in the middle of Rione Monti, the trulli tourist district. Everything you want to see and do is literally right outside your door. One word of warning about finding the B&B: GPS systems do not recognize the street it is located on. Your best bet is to type in the main street through town, park in the first parking lot you come to, and then ask any local walking by for directions to the street it resides on.
Parking is a slight inconvenience because the B&B is located on a historic pedestrian street. A public parking lot is very near, but the cost quickly adds up as you pay by the hour. No worries, though. Pietradimora staff will assist you with parking alternatives that "beat the system."
I felt very much at home while staying at Pietradimora. And, I feel like I left making a new friend!
Have you stayed in a trullo? I'd love to hear about it!
