Preparing for my next trip to Italy and mapping out restaurants for each night has fueled my hunger for good Italian food. It's hard to find really good authentic Italian in my neck of the woods, so that has led me on a quest to seek out the best across the U.S. With a little help from a few of my Twitter friends, I've started to compile a list. If you live near these areas (or plan to visit them soon), give them a try! If you have a favorite to add to the list, let me know--I'd like to try it the next time I'm in your town!

CALIFORNIA
- @susanpohlman recommends Tuscany Il Ristorante in Westlake Village.
- @bostonlogan recommends Giacomo's (and pretty much every restaurant in North End) in Boston

NEW JERSEY
- @atliss519 recommends Cafe Navona in Rockaway. He also likes Porcini 400 in Totowa.

- @filigiakke recommends Trattoria Toscana in New York City.

- @atliss519 recommends Barbetta and Becco in New York City.
- @mymelange (who is as passionate about her food as I am!) has several favorites: Il Continori in Wappingers Falls, Caffe Macchiato in Newburgh, Mercato in Red Hook, and Gigi Trattoria in Rhinebeck.

- @italylogue recommends Alba Osteria in Portland. She also promises Ken's Artisan Pizza is almost as good as her husband's homemade pizza <wink>, and she loves Mio's gelato!

TEXAS
- @AATP recommends Cavatore's Italian Restaurant in Houston.
- Yours truly (that would be me!) recommends Nonna Tata in Ft. Worth.

WASHINGTON
- @wrldtrvlgrl recommends Rialto in Seattle.

VIRGINIA
- @paneevino recommend we give them a try: Pane e Vino in Lorton.

Don't see an Italian restaurant in your area? Check back--I will be adding updates to this post as they come in!
