When we think of Italy, we conjur up images of medieval villages (like Montalcino pictured above), rolling hills lined with budding olive trees and vineyards, romantic canals with singing gondeliers, beautiful villas aglow in colors of the Mediterranean, and lots and lots of ancient ruins. Ah, but there is so much more tucked away in the less-traveled corners of Italy.
Puglia, the "heel" of the boot, is one such area. This week, I travel to Italy to spend a few days on the Amalfi Coast (R&R for me and hubs), and then on to Puglia. I think you will be surprised by the unconventional discoveries to be found in this part of the country. So, stay tuned and check back in every few days--I will post a few of them along the way.
