Of course we are all familiar with chain hotel names like Ramada, Holiday Inn, La Quinta and Motel 6. But, did you know Europe has a long list of their own?:
Barcelo - Hotels ranging from affordable city center hotels to beach resorts are prevalent in Spain with a few in Rome and Prague.
Campanile - A French chain with 395 hotels located across Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the U.K.
Citotel - More than 200 two- and three-star options are under this umbrella in France.
Etap - This 400+ chain is found continent wide with small rooms at a surprisingly low rate.
Formula 1 - With more than 300 locations in France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Spain, Sweden and the U.K., this chain is the most bare-bones of them all. Rooms measure about 328 square feet and while each has a sink, toilets and showers are shared.
Grecotel - There are 21 hotels in Greece ranging from honeymoon-worthy to family-friendly.
Ibis - The European equivalent of Motel 6. With 710 hotels across the European continent, Ibis is known for great value and dependable, no-frills rooms.
Motel One - Located in Germany and Austria, these hotels are centrally located with chic decor.
NH Hotels - In 17 countries across Europe, this chain is often a hit with the business traveler.
Premier Inn - A budget-conscience chain in the U.K. and Ireland with over 580 hotels.
Scandic - Properties are found in Scandinavia and northern Europe.
Tryp - These big-box hotels are owned by Wyndham Hotels and come equipped with unique features like in-room workout equipment and suites with bunk beds for small children.
